That Which We Hate - Claire tries to hit the gym to work off some of this new weight, it goes about as well as you would expect

Parent Chapter

As quitting time rolled around, Deanne stopped by once more to try to persuade Claire to come out for drinks. Despite a good, stiff drink sounding amazing right then, Claire politely declined, citing her headache and promising to go out with them next time. In fact, Claire's headache was actually clearing up as she wore the glasses, and she found herself with a new sense of resolve. The office girls seemed nice, and with her current wardrobe and physique she couldn't expect to do much better, but even though she had no idea what happened to her, she resolved then and there to do whatever it took to get back to her old way of life. And that started with getting rid of this, she thought as she stared at her double-rolled belly pressing against the confines of her dress.

She was exhausted from her full day at the office, but knew the first thing she had to do was go to the gym. She quickly waddled her way to the bus stop that she found would take her there. After a day in her oversized body, Claire had finally adapted to her new equilibrium, but she found that her constricting dress combined with her uncomfortable high heels had given her an awkward, short-stepped gait. So it was that she primly and uncomfortably clacked into the gym, looking every bit the out of touch 60's housewife.

"Like, what trailer did she stumble out of," one of the girls behind the counter whispered cattily to her coworker. The two pretty, slim blonde girls snickered.

"Can I help you?" one of the girls asked, trying to hide her grin.

"Yes, I see you sell workout clothes," Claire said, nodding to the spandex outfits she saw hanging on the wall. "I left my gear at home," Claire continued, much to the girls' disbelief. "Do you, ahem, have anything in my size?" she finished blushing. All her life, "her size" would've been the same as the two girls'. Now... did she even know what her size was?

"Uhhhh..." one of the girls laughed, with a look at her coworker. "Like, not usually... Maybe somewhere in here?" she concluded as she began digging through an oversized, dusty cardboard box. "Oh wait, this might fit?" she suggested, pulling out an oversized, leopard print unitard.

"I'll take it," Claire sighed. "And a pair of shoes..."

----

Claire felt ridiculous walking out of the changing room. She couldn't believe they'd make an outfit for a woman her size so eye-ctaching... and so revealing. The unitard barely went past her butt, leaving her massive, jiggling cottage cheese thighs for everyone to gawk at. It also seemed to be at least a couple sizes too small, clinging to her belly and highlighting every roll. She knew she wouldn't be able to do anything about the hair or makeup until she got home, so she stepped onto the treadmill looking like she hadn't worked out a day in her life.

As she started up the machine, she was hoping she could at least manage a slight jog. But she quickly realized that, even out of the heels, her legs felt weak and awkward, and a slightly brisk walk was all she could manage. Even then, after 15 minutes she felt herself dripping with sweat, though examining herself in the mirror she shuddered to realize the exertion had little to no effect on her hair or makeup. Eventually, she felt like she was about to collapse and reluctantly shut down the machine. She was too tired to even change back into her work clothes, and she rode the bus home in her outrageous workout outfit.

Relieved to finally be back home, she was shocked to discover that...

  1. Her apartment reeked of cigarettes.
  2. Her apartment had several cats living in it.
  3. Her apartment had two young kids running around.
  4. Her apartment was now filled by low, romantic, red light.
  5. Her apartment was filled with stylish, rockabilly decoration and furniture.
  6. Her apartment was filled with furniture from the 1960's.
  7. Something else.
  8. Something else.
